Why CBHP? Why CBHP?
The Computer-Based Honors Program accepts only the finest students from disciplines all over campus. The need for cutting-edge technology and scholarly undergraduate research extends from Accounting to World Literature, and with our unique freshman-year program, anyone who enjoys a serious challenge will succeed in their research goals—regardless of their previous computing experience.

The Computer-Based Honors Program (CBHP) is one of the most exciting programs at The University of Alabama. It offers students the opportunity to participate in real research projects with faculty members. The program has been recognized nationally for its innovative approach to connecting undergraduate students with research opportunities that are often limited to graduate students. Being a member of CBH provides students with many benefits.

Faculty Mentors

Working with faculty members on research projects beginning in their sophomore year allows students to develop strong relationships with faculty members in their areas of interest. Faculty members serve as mentors helping students realize their potential and discover more about subject areas that interest them.

Peer and Alumni Bonds

CBH students are some of the best students on campus and in the country. Students often take on leadership roles in the University and beyond. CBHers are also some of the most highly recognized and awarded students on campus, receiving both University-wide and national recognition for their accomplishments. Students in CBH are surrounded by others like themselves: intelligent, passionate in their pursuit for excellence, hard-working and driven to succeed. Our students build life-long friendships during their time in the program and our alumni are eager to assist others realize their dreams.

CBH students come from a broad geographic base and diverse backgrounds. Some incoming students know every piece of hardware in a computer, while others simply use the computer for email. Entry, and success, in CBH is not contingent upon a deep knowledge of computers, but on a willingness to learn and push yourself to new heights. If CBH sounds like something for you, we encourage you to browse the website to learn more about CBHP. You can find more information about the program curriculum, faculty, and students. You can also apply to join next year's class of CBH students. If you have any questions, please contact us at cbhp@bama.ua.edu or at (205) 348-5029.
